GMBS moderator at Indonesian Embassy business forum at Pasar Malam

Maarten Smit was invited by the Indonesian Embassy, The Hague, to moderate a business forum titled “Regional Potential and Resources from the Perspective of Trade, Tourism and Investment” as held during the Pasar Malam Indonesia on April 6, 2011.

The forum subject matter addressed the different investment opportunities for Dutch businesses in four selected regions of Indonesia. Some 80 participants attended the forum.

The valuable introductions, explanations and dicussions where conducted by honorable guests the Mayor of Sabang, Aceh Mr. Munawar Liza Zainal, Vice Regent of East Kutai Mr. Ardiansyah Sulaiman, Chairman of the Jakarta Provincial Government Investment and Promotion Board Mr. Terman Siregar, and Executive Secretary of BIMP-EAGA North Sulawesi Ms. Shelley Sondakh.
Ambassador Ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy, Honorable Mr. Umar Hadi, opened the event.

Indonesia, being the fourth biggest country in the world with a population of some 240 million has a reasonably high degree of regional autonomy. The provinces and districts represented during the forum offer a wide range of business opportunities, such as in infrastructure (esp harbors and roads), mining, water management, agriculture, fisheries and the tourism industry, amongst other.
